After leaving Budivelnyk following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Archie Goodwin is back on a contract for the next season, the team announced Sunday.
Goodwin, 27, will lead Budivelnyk in the Basketball Champions League Qualifying Rounds slated for late September. Coming out of Kentucky and picked 29th overall in the 2013 NBA draft, he logged 165 games played in the NBA. Overseas stints in Europe include the 2020-21 7DAYS EuroCup campaign as a member of Metropolitans 92. Besides the experienced and productive shooting guard, Budivelnyk hired Valery Plekhanov as the new head coach and re-signed Bogdan Bliznyuk for the next season.
More BCL news, arriving to replace Aleksander Sekulic is Roberts Stelmahers. The 47-year-old Latvian tactician penned a two-year contract to become the new head coach of ERA Nymburk. The Czech champions previously extended 40-year-old Petr Benda and 23-year-old Jakub Tuma on 1+1 and two-year contracts, respectively.
Marcus Lee joined Baxi Manresa for the 2022-23 season and will debut in European club continental competitions. Summer signings featured Giordano Bortolani, Jerrick Harding, and Babatunde Olumuyiwa, while Juan Pablo Vaulet and Brancou Badio both opted to stay at the Catalonia club.
Another new player for Falco Szombathely is Wichita State product, Zach Brown. Coming in on a one-year contract, he followed fellow summer additions Marko Krivacevic and Matt Tiby. Also, Boris Barac, Akos Keller, and Peter Veraszto inked contract extensions.
Building up the 2022-23 roster, Rytas re-signed 31-year-old big man Evaldas Kairys for the next season. Newcomers Martynas Echodas, Gytis Masiulis, Benedek Varadi, and Todd Withers shape the previous offseason moves for the Betsafe LKL champions.
Qualifiers outfit Niners Chemnitz penned 28-year-old big man Shonn Miller to a one-year contract. Other confirmed arrivals are Kilian Binapfl, Marko Filipovity, Aher Uguak, and Kevin Yebo.
