Tipping off his second season out of Iowa State, Solomon Young moves his talents to Germany and Brose Bamberg.
Young, 24, inked a two-month contract with an option for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, the team announced Monday morning. Earlier in the offseason, Bamberg confirmed Tyreese Blunt, Amir Bell, Justin Wright-Foreman, Vaidas Kariniauskas, Kevin Wohlrath, Leon Bulic, Jannis Sonnefeld, Jaromir Bohacik, Gabriel Chachashvili, Spencer Reaves, Patrick Heckmann, and Christian Sengfelder as members of the squad heading to the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers in late September.
Coming out of the Cyclones, the American big man joined the Leuven Bears for his rookie professional season. Impressive showings in a solid campaign consisting of 12.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 0.7 blocks, and 0.5 assists per contest, including the inaugural season of the betFirst BNXT League, packing teams from Belgium and the Netherlands. Up next is Germany’s easyCredit BBL. At the international level, the team guided by Oren Amiel will compete in Lisbon for a spot in the BCL Regular Season.
Sixth new player for Heroes Den Bosch as Dutch forward Lagio Grantsaan penned a one-year contract coming out of Morgan State to join the bid to survive the Qualification Group in Malaga. Earlier arrivals for the Dutch champions were Jito Kok, Chris-Ebou Ndow, Emmett Naar, and Donte Thomas, and Kobe Webster. Players returning from the 2021-22 squad are Shane Hammink, Keime Helfrich, Mohamed Kherrazi, Austin Price, Florian Rijkers, Boy van Vliet, Thomas van der Mars, and Sam Vianen.
