After losing against both SL Benfica and BAXI Manresa, VEF Riga redeemed itself by leaving Limoges CSP alone at the bottom of Group F. The Latvian team won 71-51.
The biggest scoring contribution came from Kristers Zoriks, who had 18 points while being almost perfect from the three-point line (6/7).
After being the only player to have scored 10+ points in VEF Riga’s two games in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League, Maris Gulbis ended the game with 8. Nysier Brooks came close to a double-double with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Former Telekom Baskets Bonn player Javontae Hawkins was the best of his team, ending the game with 14 points and 2/4 from the perimeter, scoring almost every three-pointer of Limoges (3/18). Bryce Jones added 11 points.
With this result, Limoges CSP keeps on losing away from France: it’s their fourth loss in four Basketball Champions League away games. Moreover, this is the first time that the green-and-white club ended a BCL game with a margin of greater than six points.
Limoges CSP made 20+ assists in each of their previous four games in the BCL before facing VEF Riga but dished only 7 of them against the Latvian team. The home side shared the ball way better, ending the game with 19 assists.
Another key difference between the two teams came from the free-throw line: VEF Riga was perfect (16/16), while Limoges had a rough 60.87% (14/23).
