Dinamo Sassari got the first win of its 2022-23 Basketball Champions League Regular Season against PAOK, beating the Greek team 82-78.
On his first European game after his arrival to replace Chinanu Onuaku, DeShawn Stephens had an impressive performance, producing a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Eimantas Bendzius played a big contribution to his team’s victory, scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Gerald Robinson added 14 points and 6 assists.
Jalen Riley was the highest scorer for Aristeidis Lykogiannis’s team, as he ended the game with 20 points. He has now scored 12 or more points in each of his last five games in the BCL.
The Polley-Hands duo combined for 34 points with 16/17 from the free throw line off the bench.
Sassari won a balanced encounter, with the game on the line until the very last moments of the game.
The home side had better numbers from points in the paint (32 vs 14) and shooting inside the area (54.05% vs 38.46%), while PAOK scored more points off the bench (34 vs 22) and shot better from the arc (48% vs 30%).
This is Dinamo’s first win of the season, but Piero Bucchi’s team remains at the bottom of Group G. PAOK has the same 1-3 record, but stays higher than the Italian team because of the points differential.
