Despite starting the season with a completely different roster, BAXI Manresa ended its 2022-23 Basketball Champions League Regular Season on top of Group F after beating VEF Riga 82-80 in Latvia.
Home crowd most favorite among the opponents Marcis Steinbergs turned into a villain, being the highest scorer for Pedro Martinez’s team with 21 points.
Frankie Ferrari, who also joined the team after the start of the season, had a pretty good all-around performance with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
VEF Riga, which was already eliminated, tried to come back thanks to its best players Nysier Brooks and Kristers Zoriks, who both finished with 24 points.
The first added 15 rebounds and scored 10/14 FT, while the Latvian also had 9 assists.
BAXI Manresa completely destroyed the home side in both fast break points (15 vs 0) and points scored from the bench (42 vs 11). They were also more clutch at the charity stripe (87.5% vs 66.67%).
