With the second spot on the standings on the line, UCAM Murcia got an impressive 87-77 road win over Tofas Bursa which ended up being third in Group A.
Travis Trice had scored 10 points in six minutes of action for Murcia in the first quarter and then 11 in the closing minutes of the third to close the game with 23, while Thad McFadden with 24 points and five assists also was a key reason for the win. Artem Pustovyi added 17 crucial points.
For the hosts, Rob Gray was the top scorer with 26 points.
Murcia started the game strong, leading 22-14 after the first quarter, but Tofas trimmed the lead to five (40-35) at halftime with Gray having already 11 points. Things would have been worst for the Spanish team if McFadden hadn’t made two big threes in the closing minute of the second period.
The hot shooting of Murcia continued as the guests jumped to a 50-39 lead to start the second half. The hosts reacted with an 11-4 run to cut the lead to four (54-50), but Trice scored 11 points after that as Murcia entered the last period with an 11-point advantage (65-54).
Tofas reacted with a 7-2 run (67-61), however McFadden took action again as Murcia answered back once more with a 14-4 run (81-65) and the game was over.
