With an impressive 28-18 run in the second quarter and thanks to Jhonathan Dunn, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg goes up 1-0 in the Play-In series against Limoges CSP, winning 85-81.
The 24-year-old former ZZ Leiden shooting guard put up 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 9/12 from beyond the arc in his best game of the season so far.
Justin Johnson added 17 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, being the second-highest scorer on Josh King’s team. Jeff Roberson added 12.
All the Limoges’ starters besides Wilfried Yeguete scored more than 10 points, with Javontae Hawkins leading the way with 17 points and 5 rebounds.
Jayvon Graves, Bryce Jones, Nicolas Lang, and Desi Rodriguez combined for 48 points. The whole team shot pretty well from three (44.4%) but got 12 points less in the paint (34 vs 22) than its opponents.
The French team got an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter, going up by 6 points before being overcome once again by the hosts.
Ludwigsburg was better in fast break (20 vs 7) and second-chance (16 vs 10) points, other than points from turnover (25 vs 14).
The winner of this best-of-three series (G2 on 11/01) will end up in Group K of the Round of 16, with Galatasaray NEF, Unicaja Malaga, and the winner of the AEK-Tofas Bursa series.
