After earning a 1-0 lead against Peristeri bwin in the best-of-three Basketball Champions League Play In series, JDA Dijon added Matt Mobley to the roster.
Mobley, 28, was signed as injury relief with Chase Simon heading to a long stint on the injury list, the team announced Wednesday.
“I am very happy to be here in Dijon and for the chance to play for a big club such as JDA,” the former St. Bonaventure standout commented on his move, per the press release, “I can’t wait to start training with the guys. JDA is a club with great history and accustomed to wins, and I wish to immediately help in continuing this tradition. I am grateful for this opportunity and happy to be able to wear the Dijon jersey.”
Previous BCL experience amounts to nine games played between Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Spirou Charleroi. Also a veteran of 12 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, including the 2021-22 stint at Casademont Zaragoza. He started the 2022-23 season at ratiopharm Ulm and debuted in the 7DAYS EuroCup, before parting ways with the German club and spending the last few months in the Philippines’ PBA.
Forced to the sidelines with a groin injury in recent weeks, Simon will undergo surgery and is expected to stay out of action for several months. Abdoulaye Loum (calf) and Jonathan Rousselle (Achilles tendon) are both currently unavailable as well.
Besides the battle for a spot in the Round of 16 of the Champions League, La Jeanne carries a 10-5 record in France’s Betclic Elite LNB Pro A. The newcomer is expected to debut for the team coached by Nenad Markovic in the upcoming home fixture opposite SLUC Nancy Saturday.
