Surviving multiple scares and two players fouling out, SIG Strasbourg secured the double-overtime win, 112-110, against Hapoel Atsmon Holon Tuesday.

Team captain DeAndre Lansdowne set his personal best for the 2022-23 season at 24 points by driving for the game-winning shot but left 1.5 seconds on the clock. Delivering in defense, he finally got the job done for Luca Banchi’s side at the conclusion of the second extra period of the Basketball Champions League contest. His 24 points plus five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block shaped a team-high efficiency rating of 24.

Another clutch performance in Marcus Keene. The 27-year-old point guard forced overtime capping off an 11-0 run with 6.1 seconds remaining in regulation. He added three more points in the second overtime wrapping up the 23-point showing paired with eight assists in Gameday 1 of the Round of 16. Paul Lacombe added 20 more points.

Rodions Kurucs had 17 points until picking up a fifth foul late in the first extra period. Center Bodian Massa was ejected from the game in a similar fashion late in the third quarter. Coming into the Group I opener, Leo Cavaliere (left ankle) joined Matt Mitchell on the injury list. But becoming the third team following Tenerife and AEK to reach the 100-game mark in FIBA’s continental competition painted a win.

Besides mishandling the 11-point advantage late in regulation, the visitors squandered potential game-winning chances at the end of the fourth quarter and the first overtime. Also, they went up by seven points midway through the second overtime. However, eventually fell to the French outfit for the first time across five BCL meetings.

Returning to Rhenus Sport after eliminating Strasbourg with a game-winning buzzer-beater to sweep the Quarterfinals best-of-three series of the 2021-22 edition of the Champions League, Joe Ragland went for 27 points behind 8/12 field goals, eight assists, eight rebounds, and three steals. The Wichita State product with an efficiency rating of 37 was not enough for the team coached by Guy Goodes.
