No surprise whatsoever in Bonn, where Telekom Baskets continued its great Basketball Champions League campaign, entering the Round of 16 by beating Bahcesehir 74-68.
TJ Shorts II, who was averaging 27 points and 6.7 assists per game in his three home appearances with Telekom Baskets Bonn in the BCL and received his December MVP before the game, had an unusually quiet night, but still delivered 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Sebastian Herrera, who came off the bench for Tuomas Iisalo‘s team, was the highest scorer of the German side with 14 points and 4/10 from downtown.
For Bahcesehir, Jerry Boutsiele went once again in double digits on rebounds, capturing 11, but struggled shooting (4/10 FG) and scored only 10 points.
The best player on the Turkish team was once again Yigit Arslan, who is becoming more and more important coming off the bench. The 26-year-old former Galatasaray player, after eliminating Filou Oostende in the Play-Ins, scored 18 points with 4/8 from beyond the arc.
In what was a pretty balanced encounter on a statistical note, the home side had the upper hand thanks to the contribution of its bench, from which came 42 points.
With this victory, Telekom Baskets Bonn joins BAXI Manresa on top of Group J. On Tuesday, the Catalan team had the better of Rytas Vilnius.
