The two-time Basketball Champions League winner, Lenovo Tenerife, is having another great season in the competition, leading Group L in the Round of 16 with a perfect 3-0 score and cruising to the quarter-finals.
As the first team is shining, the club’s junior team will soon have the opportunity to prove its potential in the first-ever Youth BCL, which will take place in Bursa from April 11 to April 15.
The head coach of Lenovo Tenerife’s youth team Ronald Gomez is excited to see his players face some of the best competition in the continent.
“Great opportunity for our players, cause they will be facing some of the best players in the continent. Every time we face good players and good teams, it’s a great opportunity to get better and to perform at our best,” Gomez said.
His players can’t wait to face nine other clubs who will participate in the brand-new Youth Basketball Champions League.
“When we told them we were traveling abroad, they were yelling: Yes, we are going to Turkey to play international tournament! All I heard were very happy comments,” Gomez adds.
One of his pupils, the talented Luo Riga, believes they are ready to fight for the crown.
“We are really excited to play for the first time, and we will be one of the best teams in this tournament. The majority of my teammates had an opportunity to compete at the international or European level, and I think we are ready,” Riga said.
