Coach Kheeryoung Rhee and MHP Riesen junior team player Moek Icke talk about the upcoming challenge of the Basketball Champions League junior tournament.
As the senior team of MHP Riesen inked five wins this season in BCL, coach Kheeryoung Rhee of the junior team wants to see his team compete at a high level.
“I am one of the teams and I think it’s a great opportunity to measure ourselves. It’s a great idea… it has the same approach as the senior competition. Imagine you are a young kid playing against top clubs. It’s once a lifetime opportunity. If you always compete against the best team and best players you will Alves continue to develop. Not only the kids but the club away on all levels“, said coach Kheeryoung Rhee.
“The priority of our club is to develop kids who did not have a competition in Germany for the last two years so they lack playing time“, he added.
One of the players who will be competing is Moek Icke.
“It’s a great opportunity to showcase my talent and obviously, I want to win. We all want to show we can compete“, Moek Ickesaid.
Per the official announcement, “Turkish club Tofas SC will host the inaugural edition of the Youth Basketball Champions League in two venues in the city of Bursa, and the first-ever champions will be crowned on Saturday, April 15 in the Tofas Nilüfer Spor arena“.
The hosts and Lenovo Tenerife will be joined by the junior teams of Bnei Ofek Dist Herzliya and ERA Nymburk, Filou Oostende, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, Igokea m:tel, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, Rytas Vilnius, and UCAM Murcia.
