In the morning, Limoges CSP announced the arrival of Marek Klassen to replace Javontae Hawkins, who previously asked to leave the French team. The reason why is now official: he’s coming back to Bonn.
Telekom Baskets announced the return of the 29-year-old American guard to Germany, where he already played for Crailsheim Merlins (2019-20), Ludwigsburg (2020-21), and finally Bonn (2021-22).
The Fordham Rams product averaged 10.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game with Limoges CSP, but he was last in the Round of 16 Group K without any victories. Now, he will play for the unbeaten Bonn in Group J, with BAXI Manresa, Rytas Vilnius, and Bahcesehir.
“After looking for a player for two months, we didn’t even have to think about bringing Hawk back when this opportunity arose. I’m very happy that the club, together with the sponsors, made this investment and I’m also proud of the fact that Hawk chose our offer and not a financially better one“, Tuomas Iisalo said on his return.
“Hawk is in game form, he has played in the BCL this season and knows our culture and style of play. That will make his integration much easier than other options. His offensive and defensive versatility gives an extra dimension to our game”, the Finnish head coach added about Hawkins, who averaged 13.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in the French league.
