Navigating peculiar situations, AEK proved more comfortable compared to Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and earned the win, 94-78, Wednesday.
Dealing with serious incidents and conflicts of opposing supporters in attendance, officials stopped the game twice during the first half and delayed the start of the second half, before opting to resume action. The few overpowered the most on the stands looking to enjoy the game. However, many fans, especially those with little kids, were forced to leave Ano Liosia Olympic Hall.
On the court, Brynton Lemar scored 24 points, a new individual best for the 2022-23 season. The former UC Davis standout put in seven points in the last ten minutes to seal the deal in Game 2 of the best-of-three series of Basketball Champions League Quarterfinals.
Akil Mitchell stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals over 29 minutes. Isaiah Miles recorded all of his 13 points in the second half and Dimitris Flionis threw in 13 more points. On the injury list, Costis Gontikas dealing with a knee issue was the most recent addition joining Janis Strelnieks and team captain Dimitris Mavroeidis.
Countering Lemar, Levi Randolph also set a new season-high but his 28 points behind 10/13 field goals were not enough for the team coached by Aleksandar Dzikic to sweep the series in Athens. The rivals will instead move to Game 3 in Pais Arena next Wednesday to decide which side will progress to the Final Four.
