From the artistic venue of the Museo Picasso in Malaga, the 2023 Basketball Champions League Final Four Draw took place this morning. Here are the pairings in the semifinals which will be played on May 12 in the Martin Carpena Arena, in Malaga:
- Lenovo Tenerife vs Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem on May 12 in the first Semi-Final
- Unicaja Malaga vs Telekom Baskets Bonn on May 12 in the second Semi-Final
The 3rd place game and the Final will take place in the same venue two days later, on May 14. On May 13 there should be the Ceremony for the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League Awards.
Just like last year’s final between Lenovo Tenerife and BAXI Manresa, there will be the possibility to see a Spanish matchup this season. In the six Basketball Champions League Final Four editions, four times a team from Spain has won gold.
“Basketball and art are woven into the fabric of the community in Malaga, the birthplace of genius Pablo Picasso, so it’s only appropriate for the countdown to the city’s biggest basketball event to start in the museum that celebrates the world-famous artist”, Basketball Champions League’s press release stated.
“The list of distinguished guests includes Malaga City Mayor Francisco de la Torre, Malaga Provincial Council President Francisco Salado, and María de Nova from the Department of Education and Sport of Andalusia’s regional government. BCL CEO Patrick Comninos and Unicaja Club President Antonio López Nieto, alongside the Mayor and the representatives of local government, will field questions from accredited local media at a press conference right before the draw”, the official statement added.
