MALAGA, Spain – The Andalusian Tourism and Sport Office welcomed us around 10:00 but the real surprise came later. Following the fan footage that came out on Twitter where the assistant coaches of Tuomas Iisalo seemed to be watching Unicaja Malaga’s timeout, the Finnish head coach – awarded as the Best of the Year later on – made sure everything was clear on the table.
“That’s a very interesting question because it’s a statement and not a question. So you should probably frame it as a statement and not as a question, first. But I’d excuse you for that”, he said referring to the Spanish journalist who brought out the matter during the press conference involving the Finals, before explaining that yes: they have been using it forever, and they don’t have anything to hide.
Kendrick Perry expressed his delusion first via Twitter and then talking to Eurohoops at the entrance of the Unicaja Concert Hall María Cristina, where the Ceremony Awards Gala took place. Almost an hour of big celebration for Sadik Emir Kabaca, the Best Young Player of the Year, Alberto Diaz, the Best Defensive Player of the Year, the already said Tuomas Iisalo, and most importantly TJ Shorts II.
His walk towards the stage reminded everybody of the one involving Chima Moneke last year, and not only because they shared the court together in UC Davis and they’re still best of friends to this day.
It’s the painting given to him, the cries of happiness of his parents, the smile on his face. Which can be wider tomorrow, if Hapoel Jerusalem doesn’t take care of those German businesses.
