TJ Shorts, the 2023 Basketball Champions League season and Final Four MVP, is leaving Telekom Baskets Bonn, the club announced. The American guard is expected to sign with EuroCup club Paris Basketball, according to multiple reports.

“Thanks to the Baskets and to the best fans in Germany, who welcomed me and my family with open arms,” Shorts said per Bonn. “The past year will stay with me for the rest of my life. And for all the Bonn fans who have supported me, you will always have a special place in my heart. I can’t thank you enough!”

Shorts spent one season with Bonn and his feats during that run were enough to make him a club legend. He led the German side to the Basketball Champions League Final Four by being named MVP of the competition and then lifted his team towards winning the title in Malaga, claiming tournament MVP in the process.

During the Final Four (vs. Unicaja Malaga in the semifinal and Hapoel Jerusalem in the championship game), Shorts averaged 25.0 points and 5.0 assists. He overall had 19.5 points, 6.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League season as Bonn won its first-ever major trophy in club history.

Shorts was also named MVP of the German League, posting 18.3 points, 7.6 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the regular season.

“TJ has shown with his style of play, but above all with his character traits and human interaction, that he is a true MVP not only on the field but also off the field,” Bonn Sports Director Savo Milovic said. “He made us all very proud and always put the team and the club first, which is not always a given for an MVP. We are very grateful to have seen such a leader in the Baskets jersey. We will follow his further path and are extremely happy that he recommended himself to us for the next step with his performance.”
