PAOK mateco added another piece to their roster for the upcoming season by signing US point guard Andrew Harrison.
The 28-year-old player is the twin brother of former Galatasaray, Olympiacos, Turk Telekom, and Cedevita Olimpija guard Aaron Harrison.
Andrew started playing basketball at Travis High School in Richmond, Texas, and in 2013, along with his brother Aaron, they were considered among the top talents in the US. That’s why they both accepted the offer they had from the famous University of Kentucky.
Andrew had two outstanding seasons under John Calipari, making the NCAA Final Four twice. After 79 games in the NCAA and an average of 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, he decided to try his luck in the NBA and was selected as the No. 44th overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Phoenix Suns, but his first NBA team was Memphis.
He first spent one year in the G League (2015-16) with the Iowa Wolves, but the next season he played in 72 regular-season games with the Grizzlies, averaging 5.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Andrew returned the following year (2017-18) with Memphis for 56 more games in the NBA and had even better numbers with 9.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
In the 2018-19 season, he played 17 more games in the NBA with three teams (Cleveland, New Orleans, Memphis) and decided for the first time to play basketball in Europe, having completed his presence in the NBA with a total of 151 games.
He played eight games for Khimki before returning to the G League and then moved to China in 2020. After another brief stint in the G League with the Windy City Bulls, Harrison joined the Turkish club Merkezefendi Denizli Basket and played in 26 games, averaging 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in the BSL last season.
