Promitheas Patras announces the start of its cooperation with the international Latvian basketball player Arturs Kurucs, who will strengthen its team’s efforts for the 2023-24 season.

Kurucs started his career in the 2017–18 season with Baskonia’s affiliates, playing there until the 2018–19 season, to sign a professional contract with the Basques upon coming of age. In the 2019-20 season, he was assigned to Riga, where he had a very good presence, averaging 14.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and three assists in the Baltic League.

The following year, the Latvian guard returned to Baskonia, with whom he played the last three seasons, gaining valuable experience from the ACB championship, as well as the Euroleague. Last season, Kurucs played in 29 games in Spain and 23 in the EuroLeague.

David Mutaf goes from EuroCup champions to BCL with Bursaspor

After two seasons with Gran Canaria, David Mutaf heads back to Turkey and will play on loan at Bursaspor next season.

He began his career in Gran Canaria as part of LEB Plata. After demonstrating an outstanding level in the reserves, the Turk managed to take a giant step towards ending up entering the first team rotation.

In addition to having minutes in the Endesa league last year, Mutaf also found a place in the Eurocup, where he averaged 5.9 points with 51.6% from beyond the arc last season.

Three-time NBA champion Patrick McCaw in Filou Oostende

Next season, 3-time NBA champion Patrick McCaw will play at the basketball club Filou Oostende. The 27-year-old shooting guard joins the Belgian side from the Delaware Blue Coats, where he won the G-League title last season. He previously played with the Golden State Warriors (two seasons) and the Toronto Raptors, winning the NBA title each time, totaling 213 matches at the highest level. He also played for US national team.

McCaw signed for one season and will arrive in Ostend next week. After medical tests and an introduction to the city, coaches, and the team, he will leave with the team for a 10-day tour in Croatia to prepare for the start of the BNXT season and the Basketball Champions League campaign, as the club announced.

As a club, we are very proud that we can bring such a player to Ostend. A real experienced champion-maker, and also, for the first time in Belgian basketball history that someone with such a track record ends up with us. We have proven in recent seasons that Filou Oostende is a springboard for the development of a career toward top teams within Europe. And that has not gone unnoticed by scouts and agents. In addition, we have built up a solid network in the USA with our coach Dario Gjergja and with our scouting and recruiting team. We invest quite a lot of time in searching for unique profiles. And the arrival of a three-time NBA champion like Patrick McCaw is, therefore, a considerable added value. Both for our image as a club, but also for the value of our competition and Belgian basketball,” said Oostende CEO Jurgen Vanpraet.
