Before starting official action in the 2023-24 campaign, Txus Vidorreta committed for four additional seasons as the head coach of Lenovo Tenerife.
Vidorreta, 57, penning a contract extension lasting through the 2027-28 season was announced by the team on Tuesday. “It is an honor for me to continue being part of this project,” said the play-caller of the team based in the Canary Islands.
The Bilbao-born tactician initially took over head-coaching responsibilities in 2015. After leading Iberostar Tenerife to the top of the inaugural edition of the Basketball Champions League and switching to Valencia for the 2017-18 season, he made his way back to capture yet another BCL title in 2022 and also win the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2023.
Heading to the eighth straight season in the Champions League, one of the lasting originals of the competition carries Tim Abromaitis, Elgin Cook, Aaron Doornekamp, Jaime Fernandez, Bruno Fitipaldo, Fran Guerra, Marcelinho Huertas, Alex Lopez, Dusan Ristic, Sasu Salin, Joan Sastre, Giorgi Shermadini, and Edgar Vicedo on the roster.
Opava picks up Adam Pechacek
Czechia champion Opava landed Adam Pechacek on the way to the BCL Regular Season. The 28-year-old power forward will play in his home country for the first time since starting his professional career in 2014. His new teammates stretch to Radek Farsky, Martin Gniadek, Ludek Jurecka, Radovan Kouril, Miroslav Kvapil, Jakub Mokran, Simon Pursl, Jakub Sirina, Jakub Slavik, Jan Svandrlik, and Filip Zbranek.
Meanwhile, Qualifiers outfit Norrkoping Dolphins cut ties with recent addition Kaiden Rice and replaced him with Issac Vann. The Sweden champions will take on Kalev/Cramo in the first game of a possible three toward a potential berth in the Regular Season.
