Strasbourg draws an overtime win in Germany

An eventful evening for SIG Strasbourg. The overtime win against EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Grosse EWE Arena was the outcome after 16 lead changes.

Massimo Cancellieri’s side earned the victory, 85-83, to start the Basketball Champions League Regular Season.

Phil Booth forced the extra period by sinking a floater with 0.6 seconds on the clock. Following up with three free throws down the stretch of overtime, the 27-year-old combo guard ended up with 15 points to his name.

Adding five points of his own in overtime, Leo Cavaliere shared the team-high 15 points in the Gameday 1 affair of Group E. Chaundee Brown chipped in 13 points and Paul Lacombe had 12 points. Sofiane Briki and Nakye Sanders were both sidelined.

For the losing side, DeWayne Russell tallied 17 points and seven assists. Charles Manning Jr. scored 16 points and Brekkott Chapman finished with 14 points. Alen Pjanic was not available for head coach Pedro Calles.

The game was suspended for around five minutes between the fourth quarter and overtime due to a technical issue.
