In a winning formation way early, Promitheas ballooned the lead over 50 points and settled for a 115-66 victory versus Opava in Patras on Wednesday.

Recording 16 points to go with six rebounds and four assists, Chris Coffey stood out in the 49-point win in the Basketball Champions League history. The Northeastern product added one steal and one block lasting 26 minutes en route for a game-high efficiency rating of 26.

Anthony Cowan Jr. finished with 15 points to his name. Arturs Kurucs had 14 points. Besides the seven double-digit scorers, Colombian Jaime Echenique went for eight points, five rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one block. For the team coached by Petr Czudek, Adam Pechacek put in a team-high 16 points in Dimitris Tofalos Arena.

Tipping off Group B with the dominating display, the team coached by Ilias Papatheodorou jumped to 1-0 in Group B, making a bid for the top seed and a direct ticket to the Round of 16. Deshawn Stephens was sidelined.

The Czechia NBL champion fell to 0-1. Returning to FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition presented a rough experience at the top of the six-game round-robin schedule. Back in 2018-19, losing by a margin of 59 points to Iberostar Tenerife and by a margin of 50 points to PAOK remain the worst defeats in the history of the league.
