From a 16-point cushion to overtime was not tricky for Tofas. The Bursa outfit survived and secured the 104-102 victory opposite Igokea m:tel in Laktasi Sports Hall on Wednesday.
Former Liberty standout Caleb Homesley registered 29 points, including 19 after the halftime break of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season contest. J. J. O’Brien added 21 points. Cassius Winston chipped in 15 points, seven assists, and five rebounds for Orhun Ene’s side. Austin Wiley and Tolga Gecim were sidelined with an injury and illness, respectively.
Experienced guard Stefan Moody forced five extra minutes by connecting two free throws with 0.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter. However, missing twice from the charity line in overtime allowed the visitors to regain control and eventually narrowly hold on for the away win in Gameday 1 of Group H.
Moody ended up with a team-high 23 points for the Bosnia-Herzegovina champions, guided by Vladimir Jovanovic. Dragan Milosavljevic recorded 18 points.
