Elvar Mar Fridriksson was all over the place in Sinan Erdem Dome. His efforts produced a triple-double and pushed PAOK mateco to the win, 88-77, against Galatasaray Ekmas.
The Icelandic guard went for 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the opening Gameday of Basketball Champions League Regular Season Group G. His efforts produced the third triple-double in the BCL, following Chris Kramer and Arnas Butkevicius in 2017.
The visitors never trailed in Istanbul on Wednesday. Making 11/18 three-pointers set the pace and also ensured a comfortable lead through the second half.
Besides Fridriksson, four more players scored in double-digits, including Andrew Harrison with a game-high 21 points. Michael Gilmore threw in 20 points. Jamuni McNeace went for 14 points, five rebounds, five steals, and two assists. Experienced guard Stavros Schizas was not available for head coach Fotis Takianos.
On the opposite end, LSU product Jarell Martin dropping 18 points was not enough. Corey Walden added 11 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals for the team coached by Zvezdan Mitrovic.
