Recovering the game after being down even by 19 points, AEK managed to win the second straight encounter since starting the Basketball Champions League this year, once again in comeback fashion after trailing against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg as well. They beat Dinamo Sassari 83-79 on the road.
For Joan Plaza’s team, the ex of the night Justin Tillman went close to a double-double with 20 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 10/13 from two-point range. Jordan McRae had a perfect night inside the area (8/8) and ended with 22 points and 5 rebounds.
Most importantly, Chasson Randle was the hero of the black-and-yellow Greek side, bringing his team down by only one point at 1:22 minutes left in the game while turning up the heat with 0:38 seconds before the very end of the fourth quarter. Overall, he had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Being almost perfect at the line (9/10), Ousmane Diop led his team in scoring with a 19-point losing effort, while Breein Tyree helped with 14 points and 7 assists in the surprising late defeat. Vasilis Charalampopoulos shot 3/4 from deep for a total of 11 points.
For the home side, instead, this is the second straight loss after the defeat which came against King Szczecin. Dinamo Sassari managed to run away in the first quarter, ending the initial period up by 13 points (33-20), but couldn’t get the job done in the end.
