Cholet stuns Darussafaka for first away BCL victory

Cholet Basket entered the third round of Basketball Champions League looking for its first away win in the competition and managed to get a sweet taste of victory on the road in Istanbul.

After dominant third quarter, the French side defeated Darussafaka Lassa 80-91 to tie at the top of Group C with a 2-1 score.

With formerh coach of both sides Erman Kunter in the building, BCL scoring leader and the only player with over 1.000 points in the competition, Vojtech Hruban led Cholet with 16 points and a PIR of 24, but had a great support from his teammates.

Enzo Gouduo-Sinha even scored a point more with 17, while Emmanuel Nzekwesi added 14, Gerald Ayayi 13 and Jalen Jones 10 for the winning side.

For Darussafaka, who lost just two games from the start of the season, both in Turkish BSL, Can Korkmaz and Janis Timma scored 14 points each, Kyle Allman stopped at 13 points, but also recorded seven rebounds and six asists, while Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman finished the match scoring 12 points.

Cholet made a key 20-5 run to end the third quarter and entered the final 10 minutes with a 56-70 lead. The difference grew to 69-87 midway through the decisive quarter, and it was clear that the guests were going back home with a win.

In the next BCL Round, Cholet will once again go on the road to face VEF Riga, while Darussafaka will meet Tenerife in Spain (21/11).
