Holding on without head coach Vassilis Spanoulis on the bench, Peristeri bwin defeating Falco Vulcano Szombathely shaped a 2-2 record in Group A of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season.
With 6:02 left in the fourth quarter, Spanoulis was ejected from the Gameday 4 affair after a quarrel with a nearby member of the secretary desk in Arena Savaria. An earlier advantage of 21 points was reduced to three with 12.4 seconds on the clock. Thanks to a missed three-pointer by Marcell Pongo at the buzzer, his side banked in a 90-87 victory on Tuesday.
“I am for more than 20 years in basketball. I have never seen, in my life, the guy from the table, who is part of the game, to curse me, to say FU,” reacted Spanoulis in the postgame press conference, “This is a shame for basketball. A person from the table to say FU.”

Finally returning to the win column in away contests of the league, the visitors featured six double-digit scorers, including Joe Ragland who produced a team-high 16 points alongside eight assists. Nemanja Dangubic posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double. Prevailing in Szombathely snapped a four-game losing streak away from home in FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition.
Outmatched in the paint, the Hungary champions never led against Peristeri. Consequently dropping to 1-3 in the group sets up an uphill battle over the last two games to extend the campaign past the Regular Season.
Nearing Dusan Sakota at the top of the list of players with the most BCL points coming off the bench, Zoltan Perl added 31 points to his tally behind 12/20 field goals in the losing effort.

From an eventful evening in the Champions League to Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League, Spanoulis is heading to a meeting with former team Olympiacos in Round 8 of the Regular Season on Monday. His side sits at 4-3 at the domestic level.
