The rule of home-court advantage didn’t apply to the Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg encounters in the Basketball Champions League.

After the Italian team won in Germany in Round 3, Ludwigsburg returned the favor in the very next one, grabbing an 80-97 victory in Sardinia.

Ludwigsburg improved to 2-2 in Group D, with Jayvon Graves scoring 20 points, and Eddy Edigin reaching a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Desure Buie added 14 points, while Yorman Bartolo with 11 and Jaren Lewis with 10 points were also in double digits. The winning side also had an impressive 14-34 from beyond the arc.

For Sassari, which fell to 1-3, Breein Tyree gave a good effort with 18 points. Vasileios Charalampopoulos and Alfonzo McKinnie added 13 each, with the US player grabbing seven rebounds. Estonian Kaspar Treier followed with 10 points.

Ludwigsburg started pulling away already in the first period, leading 18-24 after 10 minutes. The guests reached their first double-digit surplus quickly in the second quarter, taking a 41-54 lead at halftime. After opening the second half with a 12-0 run, it was pretty clear there was no coming back for Sassari, but the hosts managed to stop the bleeding in the final period and at least trim the deficit.
