From Darussafaka Lassa to Galatasaray Ekmas, David McCormack stayed in Istanbul and the Basketball Champions League.
Inking a contract for the remainder of the 2023-24 season with an option for the 2024-25 season, the NCAA champion in 2022 with Kansas officially completed the switch to the Lions on Friday. He is the second recent newcomer for the Lions after the addition of Klemen Prepelic and also the most recent departure from Dacka following Kyle Allman Jr., Janis Timma, and Mason Jones.
McCormack, 24, produced 13.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest over four appearances with Darussafaka in the Champions League. His debut campaign in FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition went from 2-3 in Group C to 1-3 in Group G of the Regular Season. Playing for Besiktas in his first professional campaign, he made an appearance in the Qualifiers of the FIBA Europe Cup. Continuing in Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi at the domestic level, he carries 13.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game over ten appearances.
Besides Galata, Promitheas also announced a new player welcoming Jamal Jones on Friday. The 30-year-old forward was expected to join the team coached by Ilias Papatheodorou following the departure of Arturs Kurucs. His previous experience in the BCL is split between six games played with Dinamo Bando di Sardegna Sassari last season and twelve with PAOK back in the 2018-19 installment. The next challenge meets the Patras outfit at 2-2 in Group B.
