Igokea m:tel came closest to securing a win in the first four games against Tofas Bursa at home but eventually lost in overtime. In Round 5 of the Basketball Champions League, in a do-or-die game, they couldn’t cope with the Turkish side on the road.
Tofas secured a convincing victory, leaving Igokea with no chance to remain in the competition after the Regular Season. With a 99-65 victory, the team from Bursa books a place in the Play-ins.
Luke Maye led the winning side with his season-best 19 points and seven rebounds for a game-high PIR of 29. Caleb Homesley added 18 points in 18 minutes, while Cassius Winston scored 14 points with five rebounds and six assists.
Omar Prewitt had a perfect shooting night with 11 points, while Zeljko Sakic also finished in double figures with 10 points. Austin Wiley was on the verge of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
For Igokea, Dragan Milosavljevic had 13 points, Edin Atic added 12 with seven assists and five boards, while Stefan Moody was the only other player for the visiting side in double digits with 11 points.
The hosts had a grip on the game from the very beginning, gaining a 37-19 lead already in the second period. Igokea couldn’t respond, as Tofas’ lead kept growing to an unattainable 73-47 before the final 10 minutes when the only question that remained was the final score.
The Bursa team’s players shot the lights out with 16/28 from beyond the arc, but they also dominated in rebounds (42-27) and assists (25-19).
