Trailing for the vast majority of the game, Le Mans seemed to have found a way to conclude well the first part of its Basketball Champions League adventure in Group A. However, Zoltan Perl had a surge of pride late in the game, pushing Falco Szombathely to the useless 75-73 win. Regardless of tonight’s result, in fact, both teams would have ended the Regular Season as 2nd and 4th.
The captain Zoltan Perl, who became the second player ever in the competition to surpass the 500-point line off the bench, had an impressive losing effort of 24 points – including the game-winner at the very end -, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. For the first time in his Basketball Champions League career, he has scored at least 16 points in a four-game stretch.
Matt Tiby also shone, putting up a performance of 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists to conclude Falco’s run at 2-4. They were helped by Akos Keller, who blocked Selom Mawugbe’s attempt to tie things up in the final seconds of the game and scored 13 points.
Matt Lewis, who was averaging 16.7 points over the previous three games, on a spectacular 77.3 percent shooting from the floor, ended the Regular Season with 13 points and 3/6 from beyond the arc for the French team. Tyran De Lattibeaudiere had a good showing of 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
