What a game and what a win for Cholet Basket! The French side was in a bad spot after losing the opening game of the Basketball Champions League Play-In series at home but stayed calm in the nail-biting finish on the road and forced a do-or-die game in front of their fans.
After 40 minutes of tightly contested battle, the French side prevailed thanks to T.J. Campbell’s last-quarter heroics and being calmer and more focused in the decisive minutes to secure a big 91-95 win.
Campbell scored triple after triple in the decisive period and finished the match with 18 points, but even though he had a crucial role in the final moments, it was Craig Randall II who dominated for most of the match, finishing with 30 points and a PIR of 29.
Neal Sako also had a big impact in the end, finishing the game with 13 points and eight rebounds, scoring some of the key free throws in the final minutes.
As for Sassari, Breein Tyree delivered 21 points, while Filip Kruslin followed him with 18, and Vasilis Charalampopoulos contributed 15 points and six assists.
Who will go to the Round of 16 will be determined on January 17th in front of the Cholet’s fans in France.
