Silas Melson drives Ludwigsburg to a comeback win in France

A brilliant display in the second half for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg earned a win in Palais des Sports de Dijon.

Bouncing back to an 89-82 victory against JDA Dijon on Tuesday.

Pushing his side to 1-0 in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League with 15 points in the fourth quarter, Gonzaga product Silas Melson poured in a total of 23 points, a new individual best for the 2023-24 season.

Leading for merely 13 minutes, the visitors went from a 12-point hole to a ten-point advantage behind solid defense in the second half. Tipping off Group J, the team coached by Josh King extended a winning streak to four games, including Game 3 of the Play-In series against Darussafaka Lassa.

Veteran defensive ace Yorman Polas Bartolo matched his season-high 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the Gameday 1 contest. More double-digit scoring contributions by Desure Buie with 14 points and Jaren Lewis with ten points in France. Elijah Childs remained on the injury list.

For the team coached by Laurent Legname, Leyton Hammonds went for 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal in his Champions League debut. Ahmad Caver had 14 points and David Holston followed with 13 points.

Seeking a fourth straight win in Betclic Elite, the French side takes on BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque in Round 21 on Saturday. In Round 18 of Germany’s top-flight division, Ludwigsburg visits EWE Baskets Oldenburg on Saturday.

Moving to Istanbul, La Jeanne gets Galatasaray Ekmas in Gameday 2, while Josh King’s side faces easyCredit BBL rival Telekom Baskets Bonn. Both BCL contests follow on Tuesday.
