Impacting winning performances in the Basketball Champions League surfaced the Most Impactful Five in Gameday 1 of the Round of 16.
Leading the list with 22.7% was UCAM Murcia’s Troy Caupain. The former Cincinnati standout tallied 16 points behind 6/7 field goals alongside five rebounds and three assists. A brilliant outing for the Universitarios combined with a convincing home win against Hapoel Holon to start Group L in style.
Speedy Smith beat the buzzer to lift Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem over Peristeri bwin and head coach Vassilis Spanoulis in overtime. A further contribution to moving to 1-0 in Group K was described by 22 points, six assists, three rebounds, and one steal in Greece. He ranked second on the list with 21.9%.
At 20.3% was Hunter Hale of Promitheas. The Michigan native went 5/7 from beyond the arc, including the go-ahead connection versus Greek rival AEK Betsson. However, missing four free throws was an issue he shared with Eurohoops. Scoring 21 points and dishing out six assists helped the Patras outfit jump to 1-0 in Group L.
Unicaja’s Tyson Carter followed in fourth place behind 18.3%. Packing 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, the 26-year-old guard pushed the team based in Malaga to a comfortable home win against Tofas.
Fitting in the Most Impactful Five, Sam Griesel held 17.7%. The 23-year-old forward had 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal for defending champion Telekom Baskets Bonn opposite Galatasaray Ekmas.
