After full seasons with one single club in Spain and Italy across his experience in Europe, Luke Maye parted ways with Tofas before the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Maye, 26, was released from his contract on Wednesday, the team announced.

The 2017 NCAA champion with North Carolina tallied 7.1 points per contest in the Basketball Champions League behind 40.9% from the field. He went for 18 points in Gameday 1 of the Round of 16 against Unicaja as the Bursa outfit fell to 0-1 in Group I.

Additional contributions of 4.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.5 blocks painted the picture of his second BCL campaign. In 2021-22, he put up 11.2 points and 4.7 rebounds and reached the championship game of the Final Four with BAXI Manresa.

Logging five games played in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi, he produced 11.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest. Domestic action was limited by squad restrictions regarding foreign players in the top-flight division of Turkiye. With an 8-10 W-L tally, the team coached by Orhun Ene sits ninth in the standings, one game outside the Playoffs zone.

Coming out of the Tar Heels, Maye spent his first professional season in the G League playing for the Wisconsin Herd before using his overseas options. More former teams in Europe range from Italy and Dolomiti Energia Trento to Coviran Granada in the 2022-23 edition of Spain’s Liga Endesa.
