Hapoel Jerusalem needed a victory over Peristeri to finally advance to this year’s Quarter-Finals, but they must wait. Vassilis Spanoulis’ team had the second straight victory at this stage, winning 76-61.
Basketball Champions League legend Joe Ragland finished with a massive double-double of 16 points and 10 assists, keeping Peristeri alive in the qualifying race.
Elijah Mitrou-Long started next to him and contributed with 15 points and 4 assists.
On Hapoel Jerusalem’s side, Speedy Smith struggled from the field (3/13) but still ended with 10 points and 7 assists. Khadeen Carrington and Levi Randolph each scored 9 points in their team’s defeat.
Overall, the black-and-red Israeli powerhouse had huge trouble at shooting, ending 17/56 from the field, including a poor 4/23 from beyond the arc. They shot 38 free throws but only converted with a low 60.53% rate.
Waiting for the other clash between Lenovo Tenerife and Pinar Karsiyaka, Peristeri now stays alive and can still hope to make it to the Quarter-Finals. Next week, they host the Canarian two-time champs, while Hapoel Jerusalem will travel to Izmir.
