Lenovo Tenerife had at least a couple of reasons to celebrate in the latest ACB appointment, winning the Canarian derby against Gran Canaria and celebrating Marcelinho Huertas becoming the all-time leading assist man in championship history.
However, there was also a big downside regarding Jaime Fernandez, who had to leave the court after suffering a worrying injury.
Txus Vidorreta’s team has now announced the nature of it after undergoing an MRI. “The player suffers a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the internal collateral ligament of the right knee, so he will have to undergo surgery once the inflammation subsides”, the statement says on Jaime Fernandez.
So far this season, the 30-year-old has averaged 8.5 points and 2.6 assists per game in the Basketball Champions League, posting up 9.6 points and 2.1 assists per encounter.
Heading to the last part of the season both in the ACB and in the Basketball Champions League, Lenovo Tenerife will have to battle against Tofas Bursa in the Quarter-Finals to reach the 2024 Final Four, hosted in Belgrade’s Stark Arena.
