AEK players are boycotting the team’s activities due to unpaid salaries

After starting this year’s Basketball Champions League on a huge 5-0 run, AEK has lost track of things, eventually finding itself in a very difficult economic situation, with players who are now boycotting the team’s activities, having stopped practicing.

Due to unpaid salaries, as former head coach Joan Plaza pointed out after being fired from the black-and-yellow side, all the players aren’t available to practice anymore. Club’s president Makis Angelopoulos promised money to come on Friday the 12th, but things haven’t been restored yet.

Justin Tillman, moreover, has left Greece and traveled back to the United States. The American center, one of the best players of the Greek side this season, especially in the Basketball Champions League, won’t probably come back to action in Europe this year.

Earlier in the season, AEK lost seven straight games in the Basketball Champions League, missing out on the opportunity of making the Quarter-Finals and eventually the Final Four. In the Greek League, instead, they’re playing in the Play-Out and they recently lost to Apollon Patras, already relegated.
