BELGRADE, Serbia – In the previous five games Ludvig Haknson played in the Basketball Champions League, he recorded a total of four points. Tonight, with the bronze medal on the line in Belgrade during the Basketball Champions League Final Four, he took over for UCAM Murcia’s victory.
Dropping a career-high 22 points with 5/6 from three-point range, the Swedish point guard led his team to finish in third position. “Today it feels good, but honestly, we came here to win everything. After losing in the Semi-Finals, this was a big goal for us, come home to Murcia with a medal is very big. They only did it once in their history. I’m extremely happy and I think our fans are happy too”, he said.
Continuing in the mixed zone, he commented on his personal performance. “The last couple of weeks I’ve been struggling with injuries, but I’m 100% again. Happy I helped the team to get this win”, he commented before touching on sharing this victory with his countryman Simon Birgander. “It feels amazing, I love to play with Simon [Birgander], he’s a great friend of mine. I think he likes to play with me, I love to play with him. It’s a good match”, Ludde Hakanson shared.
Moving to the club in the summer of 2023, it looks like he’s enjoying it there. “I feel great in Murcia, we have a good project with great players. We’re doing an amazing season, we came up short here but we’re good in ACB, and we finished third in the BCL. I love it there, it’s a nice city with a nice weather. The club is really professional. We all like it there”, the former Surne Bilbao Basket player said.
When asked if this result could make UCAM Murcia’s brand expand even more, the 28-year-old playmaker agreed. “I think so, it shows that we can get good results, not just playing good basketball. We are here, we could have also been in the final. We played a good Semi-Finals, we lost in the last minutes. But it shows we’re doing things well”, Ludde Hakanson finally commented.
