From Turk Telekom to Galatasaray Ekmas, James Palmer Jr. emerged as the latest newcomer for the team based in Istanbul en route to the 2024-25 editions of the Basketball Champions League and Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi.
In the process of finalizing deals with Ebuka Izundu and David Efianayi, the Lions are set to sign the native of Washington D.C. as well, per Eurohoops sources. Ata Toprak Kosal previously reported interest in the services of the former Nebraska and Miami standout in the NCAA.
Moving from JL Bourg to Turk Telekom last summer, Palmer featured in the BKT EuroCup for a second consecutive year. He tallied 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks per contest over 18 appearances, including ten starts, helping his side reach the Eighthfinals of Euroleague Basketball’s second-tier club continental competition. Projected for BCL action next season, he carries the experience of six games played in the 2021-22 Regular Season as a leading member of Arged BM Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski. Domestic displays through last season went to averaging 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in the BSL.
In the 2023-24 installment of the Champions League, Galata made it to the Round of 16. Falling one win shy of a ticket to the Quarterfinals from Group J signaled the ending of the continental campaign. In domestic play, an elimination at the hands of Pinar Karsiyaka finished the league and cup exhibitions in the Quarterfinals.
