After retaining head coach Orhun Ene and 28-year-old guard Tolga Gecim for the 2024-25 season, Tofas announced the addition of Marcquise Reed on Wednesday.
Reed, 29, is coming off a brilliant campaign with Onvo Buyukcekmece in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi. Averaging 21.1 points and 2.0 steals per contest, he led both categories across the top-flight division of Turkiye. He also tallied 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game over 30 appearances. At 13-17 in the Regular Season, his side fell one win shy of qualifying for the BSL Playoffs.
Next season, Reed will debut in the Basketball Champions League, besides continuing in the same league at the domestic level. Earlier experience in continental competitions features five appearances in the 2022-23 installment of the FIBA Europe Cup with Happy Casa Brindisi and five appearances in the 2020-21 edition of the 7DAYS EuroCup with Nanterre 92. Other former teams since coming out of the NCAA went from Chorale Roanne and Prometey to BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque. He previously played college basketball at Robert Morris in the 2014-15 season and at Clemson from 2016 to 2019.
The team based in Bursa is projected to compete in the BCL for the fifth year in a row. In the fourth bid, reaching the Quarterfinals for the second time in team history exceeded expectations. Similar to the first run in 2021-22, the continental campaign was ended by Lenovo Tenerife. In the BSL, a 13-17 record was one win short of a playoff berth.
