One of Tenerife’s most experienced players, Giorgi Shermadini decided to extend his contract with the Canarian side in both the Basketball Champions League and the ACB for one more year.
In his 5th season under head coach Txus Vidorreta, he promised 12.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the Basketball Champions League, reaching the Final against Unicaja Malaga.
With La Laguna Tenerife, he has won the 2022 Basketball Champions League, alongside the 2022 and 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. He also made it for three straight seasons into the All-BCL First Team from 2019 to 2022 and in the 2022-23 Second Team.
Giorgi Shermadini was also named MVP of the ACB League in both 2021 and 2023. In the past, he has been playing for Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and other established powerhouses.
The 35-year-old center broke one of his ribs back in May and he’s not available for Georgia’s run towards a historic qualification to the Olympic Games through the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia.
