41 years and counting: Marcelinho Huertas’ deep love for basketball won’t stop with an MVP campaign in the 2023-24 Basketball Champions League. The legendary point guard has announced he will play for one more season through an Instagram post.

“Time to reflect and be grateful for everything that has happened, and to plan the new year ahead. The games, training, and every moment I experienced on the court gave me immense joy. I am eternally grateful to my family, my teammates, the coaching staff, and, of course, the incredible fans who tirelessly support me in every game”, he first thanked everybody for the support.

“Thank you for cheering for me, for being by my side in every challenge, and for celebrating every achievement with me. Let’s go with everything for another year of work, determination, and, above all, lots of love for basketball!“, Marcelinho Huertas concluded.

Aiming to make Tenerife succeed once again in the Basketball Champions League, he fell short in the final against Unicaja Malaga despite being named MVP of the Season with 16.4 points and 7.9 assists per game repping the black-and-yellow jersey.

Included in Aco Petrovic’s 17-man preliminary list for the Brazilian national team ahead of the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, he’s expected to continue playing for his country once more, trying to bring the South American powerhouse to the Olympics in Paris.
