As officially announced, Laguna Tenerife has bolstered its backcourt with the addition of the US guard, who had a stellar season in the Italian Legabasket.
Payton Willis is the latest acquisition of the FIBA Basketball Champions League runner-up from last season.
The 26-year-old guard arrives in Tenerife from Estra Pistoia Basket, where he helped his team to a sixth-place finish in Legabasket last season.
“Laguna Tenerife has secured the services of American shooting guard Payton Willis for the upcoming season,” as officially stated.
Willis had an impressive season in Italy, averaging 15.7 points while shooting 39.2% from beyond the arc, along with 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists, resulting in an average Player Index Rating (PIR) of 14.8.
This marks his third season in European basketball, having previously played for Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and Hapoel Gilboa Galil in Israel.
Before transitioning to Europe, Willis played collegiate basketball at Vanderbilt, Minnesota, and Charleston Universities, and also competed in the NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors.
