French club Cholet made a significant signing by adding former NBA player Andre Roberson to its ranks.

The 32-year-old swingman joins the French side as a medical replacement for Aaron Wheeler, who is out for two months due to injury.

Roberson’s career was hindered by injuries, notably a patellar tendon injury in his left knee, which he sustained in 2018, when he was considered one of the best defenders in the NBA.

The last game he played in the NBA dates back to early 2021, and after over a year without an official match, since he played in the G League during the 2022/23 season, Roberson will try his luck in European basketball.

Earlier this year, he participated in an international tournament in Dubai with former NBA players and, in July, took part in the TBT tournament in Louisville alongside former French championship players like Rob Gray and Frank Mason.

To replace Aaron during his unavailability, we bet on Andre Roberson, who will bring us his experience at the very highest level, his leadership, as well as his defensive qualities. Andre is also a facilitator in the game. He participated a few weeks ago in the TBT tournament (a $1 million tournament) against several players currently or previously playing in Pro A, such as Rob Gray, Tashawn Thomas, etc. Consequently, he is physically ready to play,” Cholet’s head coach Fabrice Lefrançois said.

Roberson has 307 NBA regular season appearances, during which he averaged 4.5 points and four rebounds. He played alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in the Oklahoma City Thunder and reached the Western Conference Finals in 2016.
