Galatasaray’s opening game in Group D was the definition of a demonstration of might. The final score was 103-91 simply because in the last quarter the hosts rested their stars.
The outcome was pretty much decided after the first ten minutes of action with the hosts jumping into a 30-13 lead.
Otis Livingston with 21 points was the first among equals and the duo of Angel Delgado and James Palmer Jr added 14 points each for Galatasaray.
Justin Robinson scored 17 points for the losing side on a night to forget for the Germans who just managed to get the final score to more respectable numbers than the maximum in-game difference of 25 points (72-47).
“We expect more fans”
Galatasaray coach Yakup Sekizkok was satisfied but wants more: “First of all, I would like to thank our fans who came to support us in our first match at our new arena. We are happy to start the Basketball Champions League with a home win. The match is at home again next week. We expect more fans to be with us”.
“We allowed our opponent to narrow the gap to 15-12 points. We have to keep fighting until the last second, we have to give the same fight with the same concentration for 40 minutes. If we can improve this, we can reach our goals.”
