Peristeri finished last year’s Basketball Champions League with a promising Final Four participation, thanks to Coach of the Year Vassilis Spanoulis and the experience brought by Joe Ragland.
However, things vastly changed in the summer and the result was shown quickly entering the 2024-25 season, as the Greek side – newly sponsored by Domino’s – suffered a tough away 70-58 loss to FMP.
The Serbian side, which played its first-ever game in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season without any American player on the team’s roster, was led by Vojislav Stojanovic with 18 points.
The tournament’s veteran playmaker CJ Harris wasn’t enough for the yellow-and-blue Greek side despite scoring 21 points, followed right after by Tobin Carberry’s 13 points.
Peristeri led the encounter only for 1:45 minutes at the beginning of the game, while the home side even created separation with a 17-point margin (49-32). Both teams weren’t muchly effective from deep, but the guests really had a terrible night by shooting 3/25 (12.0%) on three-pointers.
In the other matchup played in Group H, Manisa shocked everybody on the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League Regular Season opening day. Saben Lee erupted for a competition-high 36-point winning effort against last year’s bronze medalist UCAM Murcia.
