Derrick Alston left a good mark in Manresa, helping the Catalan side win a historical ACB in the 1997-18 season. 27 years later, his son ensured the same team could enter their 4th consecutive Basketball Champions League campaign well, beating SL Benfica 92-64.

It’s clear to state that Derrick Alston Jr. was BAXI Manresa’s highest scorer with 25 points and 7 boards with 4/6 from the three-point arc in his Basketball Champions League debut. A good contribution also came from his countryman Cameron Hunt and from Emmanuel Cate, who both had 14.

Stealing the show in recent years with the Spanish national team’s youth system, Mario Saint-Supery was sent on loan from Unicaja Malaga to BAXI Manresa. Once he got the right playing time, the 2006-born Spanish gem had 13 points and 6 assists in his first BCL game with the new team.

The Portuguese team, which recently qualified for the BCL Regular Season through the Qualifiers had a decent 24-point effort combined from Marcus Thornton and Tyler Stone, but never stood a chance against Manresa tonight.

BAXI Manresa is now sharing the first position in Group G alongside Bertram Derthona Tortona following the Italian team’s home victory against Niners Chemnitz.
