We aren’t discovering Zoltan Perl’s abilities right now, but what a way to start the season from the experienced playmaker and leader of Falco Szombathely.
Playing in the majestic UNESCO World Heritage site of Hala Stulecia, he dragged his team to the 84-75 win on the road against Poland hosts of Slask Wroclaw, and wanted to celebrate such an occasion with a pretty great performance: he finished with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Starting the season as he has never stopped playing this summer, he was naturally named Basketball Champions League Player of Week 1, overcoming the challengers Saben Lee, Dairis Bertans, Nolan Traore, and Dylan Osetkowski.
Perl has started his career with the yellow-and-black side from Szombathely, debuted professionally with the Hungarian team in 2012 before leaving in 2015, returning for one season in 2017, and then not leaving anymore since 2019. He has also played for Orlandina (2015-17), Treviso (2017), and Estudiantes (2018-19).
Falco Szombathely hasn’t played a single Basketball Champions League campaign without the now 29-year-old point guard in charge of the control room. Last year, he put up 18.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per encounter in the International competition.
