Two teams that reached the Basketball Champions League Final Four last season both lost in the opening round of the new one.

Peristeri Domino’s and UCAM Murcia met in Greece with a chance to redeem themselves after disappointing starts, and the Spanish side seized the opportunity by winning on the road with a final score of 76-81.

Troy Caupain led the scoring for the winning side with 14 points, but Murcia had six players in double digits, with Dylan Ennis, Ludvig Hakanson, Marko Todorovic, and Howard Sent-Roos scoring 11 points each, and Rodions Kurucs adding 10 points.

Justin Patton had a great game for Peristeri, recording a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds for a game-high PIR of 32, but it wasn’t enough for the Greek side. Jarell Eddie with 17 and George Papas with 14 points followed.

“It felt good getting a road win”

Top scorer of the winning side, Troy Caupain, shared his impressions after the game.

“It felt good getting a win on the road, just trying to maintain our identity, playing well defensively. There are a couple of things to fix in practice and get ready for the next game,” Caupain said.
